we wail, we chant, we cry, we sing
we put a name on everything
the sky is mute
it hears us, not
and still we give it all we got
with the energies of slaves
who kiss the hand
but know the plot

this is where we came in
we’ve seen this time and time again
let us try to forget
why not pretend
that there is some other end
nothing is wasted, after all
take a broken tree
and burn the night
